The Toverboom, Natural, Conscious, Child Care

The Toverboom is a small daycare facility with a conscious vision. We’ve chosen to have no more than two groups consisting of 10 children and to work above the required ratio. With more staff available for the children, we hope to truly offer every child what he or she needs and ensure a peaceful environment for them to explore.

The aim at the Toverboom is to recreate an atmosphere that resembles family life. By working with vertical groups (0 – 4 years) the youngest of the children can learn from the older ones. In return, the older children can further develop their caring skills. We include the children with many household chores like baking bread, harvesting vegetables from our vegetable garden, sweeping, doing laundry and much more.

Our pedagogical policy is inspired by the most valuable insights of different pedagogues, which include: Rudolf Steiner, Thomas Gordon, Emmi Pikler, Maria Montessori and Alfie Kohn. In our pedagogical plan we explain how these educators influence our policy. You can find the plan here.
